The Machine Operator plays an important part in ensuring personalized orders are printed, assembled, and dispatched accurately and on time. This hands-on, dual-skilled role involves working across digital print production and automated inserting, matching printed card pages, folding them, inserting into envelopes, and preparing everything for dispatch. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with machinery, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable in a fast-paced production environment.

In this role, you’ll operate digital print equipment to produce personalized cards and related products, maintain a close eye on print quality throughout each run, and make adjustments when needed. You’ll perform routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance to keep the equipment running reliably, set up and operate auto-inserter machines for card folding and envelope insertion, ensure accurate matching of printed card pages and envelopes using control sheets or barcode systems, adjust machine settings to maintain speed and quality, and resolve jams, identify faults and escalations when required. You’ll also play a key part in quality control, ensuring every order is complete, accurate, and meets Funky Pigeon’s standards. This includes completing regular checks to prevent mismatches, missing inserts or print defects, and helping to minimize rework, waste, and customer reprints. You will follow all health and safety procedures and machine operating guidelines, keep the work area clean, organized and safe, and handle paper stock, envelopes and consumables with care.

You have a strong eye for detail, follow set processes and work well against tight deadlines in a hands-on production environment. You are confident operating machinery, carrying out repetitive tasks, and using basic IT systems such as job queues, monitors, or barcode/production software. Experience with digital printing, automated inserting or mailing equipment, personalized print workflows or working during peak seasons is an advantage.

You are reliable, punctual, safety-conscious and able to stay calm under pressure. You enjoy working as part of a team, have a flexible “can-do” approach, and are happy to learn multiple machines and rotate tasks. You take pride in producing high-quality work that customers will love. You have a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn.

Shift-based role: Monday – Thursday 2.30 pm to 10.30 pm, Fridays off, Saturday 7.30 am to 1 pm, Sundays off. Flexibility required during peak periods (especially Christmas).
