Property Maintenance Operative – £28,931
This field-based role will cover our stores in the South East (Reading, Crawley and Maidstone areas). Exciting News! Our team is looking for a Property Maintenance Operative to carry out reactive and planned general property maintenance works across the Card Factory portfolio of stores in South East England.
The main job is to keep the property in good shape and make sure everything’s safe for colleagues and customers. With a focus on quality, you’ll complete a variety of repair work onsite from plumbing and joinery to painting and minor electrical works. A van, tablet, tools and phone are provided and there is occasional overtime. A full clean driving licence is required.
Our App-based job logging system ensures timely resolution of issues, and our on-site survey helps to capture any unreported works. Join us in delivering exceptional maintenance services to our clients.
What you’ll do
- The role involves understanding how buildings work, including systems like electrics, plumbing, safety equipment, and other key components.
- You’ll be the first to respond to any issues, aiming to fix things quickly while keeping quality high and costs low.
- If there are any health and safety concerns on site, you\\\’ll report and sort them out whenever possible.
- You\\\’ll also be responsible for completing work orders and keeping track of any materials used.
- In emergencies—like floods, fires, or security problems—you’ll step in to make sure the building is safe.
- Sometimes, you’ll need to handle jobs outside of regular hours if they’d disrupt normal business.
- You\\\’ll respond to helpdesk requests in a timely and professional way, and let management know when bigger jobs are needed because of wear and tear or aging parts of the building.
What You’ll Need
- Apprenticeship or Craft Equivalent and with experience or have come from a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 equivalent. Ideally with 3yrs + experience in equivalent role.
- IPAF (International Powered Access Federation).
- PASMA (tower scaffolding trained).
- Annual asbestos awareness certification in accordance with UKAS accreditation.
- Health and Safety awareness together with basic First Aid and rescue skills.
- Good general construction knowledge with up to date working practices and standards.
- IT competence with the ability to work with email and maintenance software packages.
- Excellent personal organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Competent in problem solving, planning and decision making.
- Ability to be able to react to none planned / emergency works when required.
