We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our manufacturing business in Mitcham, Surrey, supporting a multi-site UK workforce of approximately 350 employees across both operational (shift-based) and office environments. This is a hands-on, site-based role delivering practical, consistent and people-focused HR support across a complex manufacturing environment. You will drive HR process improvements, embed clear ways of working, and ensure policies and manager toolkits are fit for a shift-based workforce. You will also support engagement initiatives, CSR activities, and deliver clear HR communications across sites and shifts.
Key Responsibilities- HR Process & Governance
- Drive continuous improvement across HR processes
- Develop SOPs, toolkits and manager guidance
- Ensure consistent policy application
- Maintain strong HR data governance
- Pay & Change Control
- Oversee pay-impacting changes (shifts, premiums, allowances)
- Ensure clear approvals and audit trails
- Improve payroll accuracy and reduce queries
- Engagement & Communication
- Support engagement, wellbeing and CSR initiatives
- Deliver clear, shift-friendly communications
- Equip managers with consistent messaging
- Manager Support & Employee Relations
- Provide pragmatic HR advice
- Support ER cases, investigations and hearings
- Coach managers and ensure fair outcomes
- Employee Lifecycle & Operations
- Support onboarding, employee changes and leavers
- Ensure Right to Work, GDPR and record compliance
- Capture insights from exit feedback
- Reporting & Insights
- Analyse HR metrics including headcount, turnover and absence
- Identify improvement opportunities and trends
- CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification (or working towards)
- Strong HR Generalist experience within manufacturing or multi-site environments
- Experience improving HR processes and driving consistency
- ER case management and manager coaching experience
- Clear and adaptable communication style
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Experience using HR systems and reporting tools
