The Role
As a Support Worker - Supported Accommodation, you will support the Registered Service Manager and wider team to deliver outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key responsibilities
- Support young people to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, self-care, and maintaining their accommodation
- Build positive, professional relationships based on trust, respect, and encouragement
- Act as a key worker for a small number of young people, supporting them to achieve their individual goals and aspirations
- Support young people to access education, employment, training, healthcare, and community resources
- Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience through a person‑centred approach
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and support plans using IT systems
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals
- Support young people to understand their rights, responsibilities, and tenancy expectations
- Respond effectively and calmly to challenging or crisis situations
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment
Requirements
Essential:
- Willingness to work flexible shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, sleep‑ins, and where required, waking night shifts
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good administrative, recording, and reporting skills
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and respond appropriately under pressure
- Commitment to delivering high quality support and positive outcomes for young people
- Empathy with the aims and values of Carbrey Housing
Desirable:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – training can be provided
- Experience working with children and young people or vulnerable individuals
