Do you want to work on the most pressing problem of our generation at an ambitious and scrappy series A startup? If so, we’d like to hear from you. Our success is underpinned by the quality of our emissions data, and we’re looking for a carbon specialist to support the execution, research and delivery of CarbonChain products to customers. You will play a key role in sourcing and processing supply chain emissions data that will directly feed into customer facing products. At CarbonChain we see the climate challenge as a transformative opportunity for the global economy, and a rewarding career opportunity for those willing to take on the challenge of a rapidly evolving market. Decarbonizing the economy requires a granular, real-time view of where emissions come from and how they might be reduced. We’ve built software to automate the carbon footprinting of supply chains. Banks, traders, and manufacturers use our product to tame the complexity of international supply networks, identify the most carbon-intensive parts, and find lower-carbon alternatives. Having developed technology which is significantly ahead of competitive solutions, we are now investing heavily in market adoption.

Responsibilities:

  • Calculating supply chain emissions using customer data inputs, internal systems and emissions data
  • Researching carbon emissions data from public and private sources
  • Preparing product carbon footprints or corporate carbon footprints for, and presenting results to, customers in the metals and mining, energy, chemicals and agricultural sectors
  • Improving CarbonChain’s carbon footprint methodology
  • Developing, in tandem with our product team, internal data sourcing, processing and management processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Environment, Sustainability or Climate related quantitative discipline
  • Minimum 7 years experience in relevant sustainability-driven technical fields
  • Technical experience working in carbon accounting, LCA, PCFs or EPDs preferably in the metals, minerals or steel sectors but also petrochemical, or energy sectors
  • Knowledge of the commodities trading industry and their relevant supply chains with the metals and minerals as a strong preference

  • Experience in science-based target setting and sustainability strategy will be of benefit
  • Fluency in English is a MUST, additional languages will be a plus.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fun, flexible, and mission-driven start-up.
