Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you’ll support the design, development, programming, and delivery of smoke control and building safety systems. This is a varied role with plenty of technical depth — ideal for an engineer who enjoys problem‑solving and seeing their work come to life from concept to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, validate, and advise on electrical control systems to meet project and safety requirements.
  • Review and approve electrical documentation including wiring diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and equipment schedules.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to define system architecture and third‑party interfaces.
  • Produce AutoCAD control panel drawings and specify components for manufacturing.
  • Program, configure, and deploy PLC & HMI systems (preferably Siemens TIA Portal or similar).
  • Configure integrated equipment such as VSDs, sensors, and detection systems.
  • Conduct software integration and factory testing of control panels.
  • Troubleshoot commissioning issues and provide technical support, including occasional site visits.
  • Contribute to product development through simulation testing, debugging, and system optimisation.

Experience & Skills Required

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in control panel design and automation software platforms.
  • Strong competence in control system programming (ladder logic, structured text, function block, HMI visualisation).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus.
  • Proficiency with electrical design CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, etc.).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
