Overview
We are seeking an experienced Offshore Telecoms / SCADA Engineer to support telecoms and SCADA activities on a major offshore wind project. This role will involve hands‑on offshore support, contractor oversight, commissioning activities, and close collaboration with onshore and offshore IT, commissioning, and operations teams. The position suits a proactive engineer with strong offshore telecoms experience, confident working in live commissioning environments and acting as a technical focal point in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide offshore telecoms troubleshooting support on behalf of the project
- Produce daily offshore progress reports
- Attend and actively participate in technical and coordination meetings
- Review and comment on contractor documentation including WMS, RAMS, ITPs and ITRs
- Plan and manage telecoms / SCADA punch list items and remediation works within scope
- Oversee contractor telecoms and SCADA commissioning activities, including witnessing and monitoring
- Interface closely with commissioning teams and offshore IT functions
- Manage project telecoms spares, including network switches and fibre optic patch leads
- Act as the offshore point of contact for installation support of temporary LTE systems in towers
- Provide in‑field support to IT teams for configuration and troubleshooting of network switches
- Carry out signal testing during energisation of wind turbine generators (WTGs) and GIS
- Support installation and integration of TETRA base stations
- Undertake onshore and offshore pre‑configuration of network switches within turbine nacelles
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Telecoms / SCADA Engineer within offshore wind or offshore energy projects
- Strong knowledge of offshore telecoms systems, fibre networks and industrial communications
- Experience supporting commissioning and energisation phases
- Familiarity with contractor management and technical documentation review
- Comfortable working offshore on rotational patterns
- Strong communication skills and ability to act as an offshore technical authority
