The Role of the Safety Pilot
- Supporting the Remote Pilot In Command in the delivery of UAS operations
- Ensuring operations comply with necessary regulations and maintaining detailed records
- Enforcing adherence to company safety protocols and best practices
- Assisting UAS operators with flight planning, pre-flight inspections, and post-flight debriefings
- Providing emergency response guidance in the event of system failures or unexpected hazards
- Training and mentoring UAS operators on best practices and risk mitigation strategies
The Ideal Candidate
- Aviation knowledge, including Ground School and live flying experience
- Understanding of meteorology and airspace
- A1 and A3 certificates (CAA/EASA)
- A pilot's license (LAPL/PPL/HPL) and an A2 Certificate of Competence
- An engineering license and MALE/HALE UAS Platform Certification
- Experience with MUAS/MALE platforms, military flying, or instructional duties
- Eligibility to hold SC clearance and a willingness to undergo the vetting process
