Site Manager - Ring Main Installation, Peel Ports, Merseyside

th September - Tuesday 22nd September

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the installation of a new ring main at Peel Ports, Merseyside. This is a live, operational container port and a designated high-hazard environment, so the successful candidate must bring a rigorous, safety-first approach alongside strong technical construction management skills.

The works comprise both civil engineering (excavation and concreting) and extensive mechanical and electrical installation (heavy cabling and instrumentation), so the ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors across several trades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
  • Overseeing civil engineering activities including excavation, trenching, and concreting
  • Managing M&E installation works, including heavy cabling and instrumentation
  • Coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades, ensuring effective sequencing of civils and M&E packages
  • Enforcing strict adherence to site-specific health & safety rules given the port's high-hazard status
  • Liaising with the port authority/client representatives on access, permits, and operational constraints
  • Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, and regular safety briefings
  • Managing RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) and ensuring compliance on site
  • Monitoring quality control and ensuring works meet relevant industry standards
  • Producing progress reports and liaising with the project/contracts manager
  • Managing site logistics within an active, operational port environment

Requirements

  • 5 Day First Aid at Work certificate - essential
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering and/or M&E projects
  • Experience working within an industrial environment (ports, docks, energy, utilities, or similar high-hazard sectors highly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of excavation, groundworks, and concreting operations
  • Understanding of heavy cabling installation and instrumentation works (or experience managing M&E subcontractors)
  • Excellent understanding of CDM regulations and site safety management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and subcontractor management skills
  • IOSH or NEBOSH

What We Offer

  • Β£500.00 - Β£600.00 per day CIS or LCC depending on experience
  • Opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure project at a major UK container port
  • Other works which will follow completion of this holiday cover
