Client is delivering one of the UK’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities — a 320MW/640MWh installation at Monk Fryston, North Yorkshire. This project forms a central part of our client’s strategy to expand flexible, low‑carbon energy storage capacity across the UK and support integration of renewable energy into the grid. We are seeking an experienced Site Construction Supervisor to support the onsite delivery of complex civil, structural and foundation works associated with the BESS facility and associated substation infrastructure. This role is ideal for a seasoned civil supervisor with a strong background in large infrastructure, energy, utilities or power sector construction projects. You will ensure safe, compliant and high-quality delivery while coordinating effectively with contractors, engineering teams and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the site work activities to ensure they are being delivered in accordance with Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate site construction works and activities with contractors and consultants ensuring safety documentation is in place.
  • Verify site construction progress and programme are accurately reflected contractor project documentation.
  • Provide daily diaries and weekly updates to the CPPM and CPM.
  • Liaison with various local authorities and departments, statutory bodies, landowners and tenants, community groups and leaders and wider stakeholders.
  • Attend joint briefings, talks, inspections and audits, meetings and events with the supply chain.
  • Ensure project risks are identified, understood and matters escalated as appropriate.
  • Liaise with Technical, Engineering, Procurement, Finance and Project Services to facilitate and support the procurement of the works packages and the delivery of site construction.
  • Capture lessons learned in relation to the implementation of the construction works at site to contribute to continually improvement and knowledge management initiatives to improve the delivery of projects.

Requirements

  • Full UK working rights
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Holds relevant Engineering Trade/Supervisor qualifications such as City and Guilds or CITB
  • Holds relevant safety qualifications such as SSTS, SMSTS, NEBOSH
  • Ability to review SSoW (including RAMS & PoWRA) and environmental mitigation plans and controls, understand the requirements of Quality Inspection and Test Plans, undertake Safety and Quality Audits and Inspections and to oversee the implementation on site of all such activities on site including corrective actions as necessary.
  • Demonstrates understanding of key project management considerations for major projects delivery e.g. project definition and set up, planning, cost, risk, quality and commercial management.
  • Good IT Skills including maintaining daily diaries and writing weekly reports.
  • Ability to feed into constructability reviews and Lessons Learned sessions.
  • Ability to communicate with Project Team Members, Contractors, and external Third Parties.

  • Experience in supervision and site construction management of significant work packages in a relevant discipline or subject matter field.
  • Experience of participation in medium/large construction delivery teams identifying and managing interfaces in the best interests of the project.
  • Experienced relationship builder internally & externally with key stakeholders.
