Carbon60 is recruiting for a Plumbing / Heating Engineer to support increased workload across a schools contract in the Stoke-on-Trent / Midlands area.

ROLE: Plumber - Plumbing / Heating Engineer

SALARY: £16.35 per hour PAYE

CONTRACT TYPE: Temporary - 6 Weeks

LOCATION: Midlands / Stoke-on-Trent Area

DBS REQUIREMENT: Enhanced DBS required (must be carried out prior to start)

THE ROLE: This is a temporary position covering additional workload within a schools contract. The successful candidate will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive, and breakdown works across heating, hot water, and plumbing systems. You will be responsible for ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out PPM works in line with maintenance specifications
  • Log all work activity in real time using PDA and CAFM systems (start/wait/stop times)
  • Complete all associated documentation for PPM, reactive, and breakdown works
  • Diagnose plant faults and carry out effective repairs
  • Identify follow-on works and provide parts lists and timescales
  • Ensure suitable spares are available for maintenance and reactive tasks
  • Complete Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) before commencing tasks
  • Work in line with Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Operate Permit to Work systems where required
  • Maintain plant rooms in clean and tidy condition
  • Supervise subcontractors where necessary
  • Participate in on-call rota and attend breakdowns outside normal hours if required
  • Maintain professional standards when representing the company on-site

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Recognised Plumbing qualification (essential)
  • C&G Level 3 Plumbing (essential)
  • Strong experience in heating/hot water systems maintenance and repair
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills
  • Installation experience with relevant certification
  • Basic knowledge of building fabric repairs
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Enhanced DBS (mandatory)
  • Computer literate and confident updating CAFM systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit and professional in appearance

  • Legionella Awareness
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • MEWP Licence
  • First Aid qualification
