Mechanical Fitter / Sheet Metal Worker

Location: London Oxford Airport (OXF)

Contract: Until end of 2025 potential extension

We are currently supporting our global aviation client in the search for an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Sheet Metal Worker to join their helicopters team at Oxford Airport. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the safety and airworthiness of helicopters undergoing customisation and maintenance in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and assemble sheet metal components, brackets, and fittings to tight tolerances
  • Carry out structural repairs and modifications both on and off aircraft
  • Interpret and work from detailed mechanical drawings
  • Install brackets, doubler plates, etc in association with the embodiment of modifications to customers helicopters
  • Support general hangar operations, including aircraft movements and housekeeping
  • Collaborate with the design office to ensure accurate implementation of modifications
  • Remove and refit panels and cowlings to helicopters and equipment

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in aircraft sheet metal work, including riveting and structural repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and associated data
  • Experience working with helicopter systems
  • Skilled in using workshop tools such as guillotine, manual folding machine, and press brake (desirable)
  • Comfortable working shifts and in confined spaces
  • Completed a formal aviation apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Initial Human Factors training and a full UK driving licence
  • Familiarity with SAP, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office is advantageous

Additional Information:

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain basic Security Clearance due to airside access requirements
