Role: Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer (MPL - Millbrook, Beds)

Location: Bedfordshire

Length of role: 31 Oct 2026 with possible extension

Hours: 10 hours per day on a 10/4 Rotation or 5/2 (Mon-Fri)

Start Date: ASAP

Key responsibilities, accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for various construction projects.
  • Lead commissioning activities by conducting thorough inspections, tests, and verifications of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Review design documentation and construction drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Coordinate and conduct functional performance tests to ensure that building systems and equipment operate as intended.
  • Identify and resolve any issues, deficiencies, or deviations during the commissioning process, working closely with construction and engineering teams.
  • Document commissioning activities, observations, and results in comprehensive reports for clients and internal records.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to construction teams during the installation and recommissioning of systems.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to commissioning and construction.
  • Coordinate with the Top Administrator.
  • Coordinate with the LoTo Administrator.
  • Coordinate with SIEMENS.
  • Coordinate with HSE.
  • Update the punch list.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Proven experience in commissioning, construction, or a related field within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of powertrain and BoP systems, codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear documentation and client interactions.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using commissioning tools, software, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and travel to project sites as required.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification and familiarity with environmental and safety protocols is advantageous.
