Key responsibilities, accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for various construction projects.
- Lead commissioning activities by conducting thorough inspections, tests, and verifications of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Review design documentation and construction drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes.
- Coordinate and conduct functional performance tests to ensure that building systems and equipment operate as intended.
- Identify and resolve any issues, deficiencies, or deviations during the commissioning process, working closely with construction and engineering teams.
- Document commissioning activities, observations, and results in comprehensive reports for clients and internal records.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical expertise and support to construction teams during the installation and recommissioning of systems.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to commissioning and construction.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Proven experience in commissioning, construction, or a related field within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of powertrain and BoP systems, codes, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear documentation and client interactions.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using commissioning tools, software, and equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and travel to project sites as required.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification and familiarity with environmental and safety protocols is advantageous.
