Role: M&E Inspector – HV/LV, Building Services and HVDC Equipment/Systems scopes

Location: Onshore Converter Station (OCS) at Necton – Norfolk, UK

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 12 months.

Working week: Onsite 5 Days per week x 10 hours per day

Clearance: Proof of Right to Work in the UK

Certifications:

  • Time served LV/MV or HV Equipment/Systems Inspector with HNC/HND or craft qualification in an Electrical LV/MV/HV discipline.
  • Be a recognised site supervisor holding SSSTS, CCNSG Safety Passport (Supervisor), NEBOSH Construction Certificate or similar
  • Be a National Grid accredited “Person” and be BESC trained
  • IT proficiency – MS Office including Teams, Outlook etc.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience as a Client Inspector at a supervisory level with a good understanding of the installation, fit out, and testing of electrical transmission and distribution equipment/systems for HVDC technology (preferably for Offshore Windfarms)..
  • Ability to work to high degree of autonomy, within a team, effectively, efficiently and with a proactive approach.
  • Have a working knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental legislation in particular experience of working under CDM 2015.
  • Demonstrate recent relevant experience (minimum 10 years) of supervising major and complex Mechanical and Electrical in similar substation types.

Scope of Services:

  • Work closely with the site QA/QC Lead and the site team to continuously monitor the electrical Works performed by the Contractor and their subcontractors, and ensure compliance with the Project Requirements including but not limited to applicable specifications, standards and norms.
  • Liaise with the Contractor’s site representatives as well as their subcontractors at site on all electrical installation, testing and commissioning Works being undertaken.
  • Liaison with the client HSE advisors and support team including CDMC / PD.
  • Participate in the various regular site meetings including ad-hoc – QC inspection look-ahead, QC issues meeting, joint weekly quality walks, NC reviews, Weekly ONS progress meetings, daily coordination meetings,
  • Preparation of detailed reports to the RWE Renewables Site Manager or Package Manager as required
  • Perform surveillance/witnessing of the electrical installation, testing and commissioning Works as notified by the Contractor/ subcontractors and throughout, using agreed documentation including ITPs, and ensure compliance with Project/Contract Requirements.
  • Perform daily monitoring of the quality of the workmanship including general housekeeping, electrical workshops including operators’ qualification for Works being performed, electrical installation equipment, materials and consumables traceability, etc.
  • Support in the review of related documentation prior to commencement of electrical Works – ITPs, work procedures or method statements, specifications etc.
  • Verification of the drawings against the design drawings to ensure compliance throughout the Works.
  • Participate in joint walk-downs, final inspections and punch/snag identification at defined stages of the Works and prior to load out. Perform follow up inspections on those corrected defects/punches by the Contractor/ subcontractors .
  • Provide support to the site team and the Employer’s Package team on electrical related technical deviations, site queries and change requests as required.
  • Report any electrical related Works queries and non-conformity to the Contractor/ subcontractors for immediate actions and notify the QA/QC Lead / site and technical team as well as the PQM for the appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Prepare daily/weekly site reporting on all electrical related Works as required.
  • Review electrical installation, fit out, testing and commissioning of electrical transmission and distribution equipment/systems, records progressively and highlight any issues for immediate attention and correction by the Contractor/ subcontractors .
  • Utilise the Employer’s tool, Let’s Build (Aproplan) to record activities performed – inspection/surveillances, observations etc.
  • Support the review of the Final As-Built Records for the electrical Works as presented by the Contractor/ subcontractors .
  • Progressively collate discipline specific Lessons Learned and provide to the Employer’s Package team at defined stages of the Works and at the end of the scope of Works.
  • Build working relationships with other stakeholders such as but not limited to National Grid, EPCI Contractor and subcontractors.
  • Support the site safety improvement initiatives delivered and facilitated by both RWE and the Contractors.
  • Become familiar with the Contracts, Consents, Leases, Designs, Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan, package interfaces, the Employers Requirements (specifications) and any relevant contractors documentation in order to carry out the role effectively.
