We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery, deployment and ongoing support of a modern hosting and infrastructure platform within a secure defence environment.

Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you will play a key role in building, deploying and supporting enterprise infrastructure services while ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

This role is primarily based onsite in Portsmouth, with occasional travel required for installation and deployment activities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy and support enterprise infrastructure platforms.
  • Administer VMware hosted services and virtual environments.
  • Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support for infrastructure services.
  • Support and maintain Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
  • Configure and manage Dell server hardware and i DRAC.
  • Maintain technical and operational documentation.
  • Support asset management, logistics and supplier engagement activities.
  • Participate in ITIL-based change management processes.
  • Work closely with project and operational teams to deliver infrastructure services.
  • Support onsite installation and deployment activities when required.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience administering VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
  • Good working knowledge of VMware v Center 7.0 or later.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Strong Active Directory administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Dell server hardware and i DRAC management.
  • Experience providing 2nd and 3rd line support within enterprise environments.
  • Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Experience working within ITIL change management processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using Remedy.
  • Office automation and documentation management skills.
  • Experience supporting IT services within defence, maritime or secure environments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and supplier engagement skills.

Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Microsoft certification (MCSA or equivalent preferred).
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) certification desirable.
  • Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the programme, candidates must hold active SC Clearance or be eligible for immediate transfer.

Candidates already holding valid SC Clearance are strongly preferred.
