A leading UK infrastructure organisation is seeking two experienced Senior Contracts Managers to join its Procurement & Commercial (P&C) function, supporting a major onshore capital delivery programme within the transmission sector. These roles offer the chance to support some of the largest and most strategically important projects in the UK, contributing directly to national infrastructure growth. Candidates from both client-side and contractor-side backgrounds are welcome. While energy-sector experience is beneficial, it is not essential.
As a Senior Contracts Manager, you will play a critical role in both the pre-contract and post-contract phases of high-value infrastructure projects (typically £50m-£500m). Your responsibilities will include:
- Negotiating contract terms and conditions for large-scale capital projects and leading commercial management throughout project delivery.
- Managing commercial teams, ensuring high-quality contract and cost administration.
- Negotiating contract prices and ensuring all pricing is transparent, justified, and delivers value for money.
- Applying strong stakeholder engagement skills to lead, influence and resolve disputes while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Overseeing cost and forecast management, including regular cost reporting, change control, payment and expenditure management, and cost estimating.
- Delivering robust post-contract commercial management, including compensation event negotiation and adherence to core commercial governance principles.
- Supporting the Procurement & Commercial Manager in delivering a world-class commercial service across the programme.
You will bring strong commercial acumen and a background suited to managing complex contract arrangements within major projects. Specifically, you will have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification. Progression toward (or membership of) a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial governance for large capital projects, with experience in commercial, contract, or cost management roles.
- Experience across estimating, sourcing, budget management, and contract administration.
- Proven ability to draft, negotiate and interpret commercial contracts, including experience with standard form construction contracts and bespoke arrangements.
- Experience working with NEC contracts.
You will be part of a high-performing commercial team working on some of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure projects, with opportunities to influence major outcomes and further develop your commercial leadership career.
