This position sits within a Transmission Project Engineering function, with a primary focus on AC Overhead Line (OHL) systems. Candidates with a project engineering background and experience working on transmission networks, particularly at 132kV and above, are encouraged to apply. Experience gained within contractor, consultancy, or client-side organisations in the energy sector will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overhead line engineering support for 400kV, 275kV and 132kV projects across the full project lifecycle, as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Review contractor and consultant design proposals, ensuring compliance with relevant specifications, standards, and guidance.
- Undertake a Project Engineering role, ensuring engineering governance is followed and coordination is maintained across all engineering disciplines.
- Support the project team by managing engineering risks and identifying opportunities to enhance project outcomes.
- Act as the technical point of contact for overhead line engineering and represent engineering at strategic, commercial, programme, and site meetings.
- Promote and manage safety through the implementation of CDM procedures, ensuring compliance with organisational, HSE, and industry regulations.
- Work closely with Engineering and Project Management teams to identify and mitigate engineering and quality risks.
About You
- Strong technical capability in overhead line development, design, and specification, or demonstrable transferable experience.
- Experience with overhead line design software (e.g. PLS-CADD) is desirable but not essential.
- Degree or HND in a relevant technical discipline, with appropriate industry experience.
- Proactive and analytical, with a strong problem-solving approach and evidence-based decision making.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and convey technical information effectively at all levels.
