Are you a safety-conscious professional with a passion for maintaining a secure work environment? This leading university in the heart of London is seeking a talented Interim Health and Safety Lead (Projects) to play a crucial role in overseeing and supporting health and safety compliance across their diverse range of construction, maintenance, and facilities projects. This is a contract position running until mid August, working hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (36.5 hours per week).
As the Health and Safety Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Providing expert advice and assistance to project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and implement robust safety standards, processes, and procedures.
- Monitoring adherence to CDM 2015 regulations and supporting the client's duties under the law.
- Fostering a strong, visible safety culture through site engagement, behaviour-based leadership, and ongoing dialogue.
- Embedding 'Safety in Design' principles in the early stages of planning and design.
- Auditing, inspecting, and analysing safety performance data to identify trends and develop targeted mitigation strategies.
- Delivering training and safety briefings tailored to the unique needs of the university environment.
- Liaising with internal health and safety colleagues to align with the overall safety strategy.
To excel in this role, you will need to be a Chartered Member of the Institute of Safety and Health (CMIOSH) with a NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction Certificate. Extensive experience in interpreting and applying complex construction health and safety requirements, as well as a strong understanding of the Construction, Design, and Management (CDM) Regulations, is essential.
