A leading defence organisation is seeking an experienced Head of FCAS Systems Design Co-ordination to join a high-profile Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme. This is a senior leadership role within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, contributing to the coordination and alignment of system design activities across internal teams and external partners.
This position suits an individual who excels at navigating ambiguity, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving coherent delivery across highly interdependent technical and organisational boundaries.
Key Responsibilities- Provide senior leadership and coordination across FCAS systems design activities
- Establish, build, and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners across the defence and aerospace sector
- Ensure alignment of multiple stakeholder needs within a broader business and programme context to enable effective decision-making
- Influence, shape, and drive a clear design coordination narrative across the programme
- Develop individuals within the team, ensuring roles are clearly defined and aligned to programme needs, with appropriate development opportunities
- Act as a central coordination point to support delivery consistency, clarity, and quality
- Operate with exceptional attention to detail while managing complex, evolving priorities
- Demonstrable experience operating in senior leadership or coordination roles within complex, multi-stakeholder programmes
- Previous experience working in environments using MATLAB and Simulink to support system modelling, analysis, or design activities (Desirable but not essential)
- Strong ability to build credibility and trusted relationships across internal teams and external partners
- Proven capability to influence, communicate, and align stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
- Strong understanding of how technical, programme, and business requirements interact at enterprise level
