Established in 2019, Carbon3 specialises in renewable energy, electric vehicle charging, and ESG solutions for new build construction and retrofit projects. As experts in our field, we are committed to delivering sustainable solutions while achieving planning and sustainability targets. As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to take a leading role in shaping and maintaining our Health & Safety culture across all our sites nationally.
The Role
This is a high-impact position, responsible for driving Carbon3βs Health & Safety vision across all functions and sites. You will play a pivotal role in:
- Aligning health, safety, environmental and quality (SHEQ) practices with our integrated management system (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- Leading continual improvement initiatives and performance reporting across the organisation.
- Providing monthly performance reviews and presentations to the Management Team, summarising key metrics, trends, risks, and improvement actions.
This position requires hands on engagement β balancing site visibility with internal process.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute Carbon3βs SHEQ strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal obligations.
- Act as the companyβs subject matter expert on all matters of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing.
- Lead on H&S governance, risk management, and policy development.
- Embed a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Safe Systems of Work across all projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and dissemination of lessons learned.
- Act as the principal CDM Advisor, supporting compliance with CDM Regulations, Building Safety Act, and Building Regulations.
- Manage and maintain ISO accreditation, coordinating internal and external audits.
- Oversee Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and support bid submissions to evidence robust H&S governance.
- Drive engagement and competence across all operational teams through training, mentoring, and toolbox talks.
Management Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare and present detailed monthly management reports including incident data, leading indicators, audit outcomes, risk analysis, and key improvement initiatives.
- Identify and escalate emerging risks, ensuring visibility and alignment at senior level.
- Champion wellbeing and occupational health initiatives in partnership with HR and Operations.
About You
You will be an influential and credible leader with a deep understanding of construction and renewable energy environments, capable of engaging both operational teams and senior stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification).
- Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role within the construction, M&E, or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, ISO 45001, and associated UK legislation.
- Demonstrable experience managing multi-site H&S compliance and ISO-certified systems.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and report-writing capabilities.
- Skilled communicator β confident presenting at all levels and influencing change across disciplines.
- Proven experience leading audits, investigations, and improvement programmes.
- Willingness to travel nationally and maintain site presence.
Desirable
- Experience in ESG, sustainability or wellbeing programme development.
- Familiarity with SHDF / PAS2030 / PAS2035 frameworks.
