Responsibilities
- Trading & Optimisation
- Execute short-term trading and imbalance management strategies
- Forecast forward power prices and support import and export trading decisions
- Optimise flexible assets across OTC, balancing, and ancillary services markets
- Monitor market conditions and adjust positions to manage risk and maximise value
- Analytics & AI Enablement
- Analyse market and operational data to support trading and optimisation
- Develop and maintain pricing, forecasting, and asset optimisation models
- Contribute to the use of AI as a decision-support tool for forecasting and analytics
- Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Produce clear reporting on trading performance, imbalance costs, and optimisation outcomes
- Provide insight to senior leadership and the wider business
- Act as a key interface between the Energy team and operational asset teams
- Governance & Contracts
- Ensure compliance with trading governance and regulatory requirements
- Support contract review and negotiation for power and energy agreements
- Assess charging structures and tariffs to optimise commercial outcomes
- Team Contribution
- Support wider business activities including forward strategy, systems, and data
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and development within the team
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in an energy or commodities trading environment
- Experience trading power, including import and export positions
- Strong understanding of short-term trading, imbalance management, and optimisation
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets
- Ability to communicate complex information to senior and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with flexible assets or generation portfolios
- Programming or advanced analytics skills (Python, SQL, VBA)
- Interest in applying AI and machine learning to trading and analytics
