Location: 5th Floor, 9A Devonshire Square, London, EC2M 4YN. Start date: Immediate. Role type: Permanent, full-time, hybrid.
The Opportunity
- Lead the strategic vision, build, and ongoing evolution of Carbon Underwriting's corporate infrastructure.
- This is a pivotal hands-on role to own and shape the technology backbone of a growing Lloyds syndicate.
- Reports to the CTO and is suitable for an ambitious individual who can work autonomously with visibility across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the corporate infrastructure strategy aligned with Carbon's objectives and growth; advise the executive team on technology infrastructure, resilience, and operational risk.
- Technology Vision & Execution: Architect and deliver robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure across cloud environments with some on-premises components; drive automation, SRE, and best practices to enable operational excellence and agility.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Manage MSPs, cloud providers, and technology partners; negotiate strategic agreements and ensure service excellence.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Develop and implement security, compliance, and risk management frameworks; continuously improve security posture and readiness for audits.
- Business Continuity & Resilience: Oversee disaster recovery strategy and testing; ensure robust business continuity plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the corporate technology function in executive meetings, audits, and cross-functional forums; provide data-driven updates on performance and risk.
- Operational Excellence: Drive efficiency and scalability through automation, process optimization, and proactive monitoring; leverage data to inform decisions and deliver value.
- Innovation & Change Management: Stay ahead of industry trends and lead technology changes to maintain competitive edge.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in a hands-on leadership role within FinTech, banking, insurance, or a similarly regulated, high-growth environment.
- Deep expertise in O365 configuration and setup; strong cloud, automation, and security experience (Azure predominant; GCP also used).
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills; track record delivering large-scale infrastructure projects and driving operational transformation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including c-suite engagement.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, O365/Azure/GCP, ITIL) are highly desirable.
- Experience managing firewalls and switches.
- STEM degree or equivalent experience.
