We are seeking a skilled and focused Contract Process Engineer to join our manufacturing team at the Grangemouth Manufacturing Site. This role supports the production and formulation of agrochemicals that help farmers feed the world. The successful candidate will bring strong chemical engineering fundamentals, hands-on process engineering experience, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance.
Responsibilities
- Process Design & Optimisation: Design and deliver process improvement programmes for Active Ingredient and Formulation Fill & Pack capital projects. Maximise capital and operating cost efficiencies while ensuring HSE excellence. Support plant operations through effective process troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Technical Leadership: Provide specialist process engineering expertise to project teams and production managers. Act as Process Owner for assigned manufacturing areas, ensuring technical integrity and robust process control.
- Continuous Improvement: Challenge established protocols and identify opportunities for process and operational improvements. Participate in cross-functional manufacturing support teams. Deliver scientific and technical work programmes safely and efficiently across sites.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Operations, Maintenance, HSE, and Quality. Engage with global functions to share best practices and align with corporate standards.
Essential Requirements
- Education: Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering. Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years' practical process engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Proven experience in capital project delivery and change execution.
- Technical Skills: Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of core chemical engineering principles. Experience with process simulation and design tools. Knowledge of HSE risk assessment methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, and related techniques.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience: Experience within agrochemical or specialty chemical manufacturing environments.
- Additional: Familiarity with batch processing operations. Project management experience. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements including DSEAR, COMAH, and PER.
