As our business continues to grow, we are looking to hire a Senior Energy Engineer – this is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven engineer to join a dynamic, highly successful team, with focus on engineering solutions, audits of sites, and decarbonisation of buildings through the implementation of an appropriate blend of renewable and low-carbon solutions. The role will require you to identify, manage and deliver technical energy and process efficiency projects in a variety of sectors.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Direct, manage, and provide technical input to numerous projects simultaneously and ensure delivery to clients on time and within agreed budget
- Manage and support junior team members to deliver projects and further their professional status
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and build lasting relationships with new clients with the expectation of maintaining and increasing revenues
- Generate new business through ongoing collaboration with the account management team and by supporting business development activities
- Prepare / QA proposals for projects.
Your knowledge, skills and qualifications
- At least 8 years of engineering or energy and carbon reduction experience in the commercial, industrial & public buildings sector
- A proven record of delivering decarbonisation, process improvement, or cost-efficiency projects to internal and/or external customers
- Experience in managing complex or multi-client projects
- Experience in managing a professional team to deliver projects, including developing project briefs, cost proposals and report QA
- A proven ability to articulate technical information to non-technical clients
- Engineering or relevant technical degree essential, such as Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with experience in analysing and interpreting large amounts of complex data, and communicating findings in report format
- Excellent/Good project management skills ensuring high quality service delivery
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, visual, and written, with the ability to convey complex problems, improving understanding, to a variety of stakeholders from all levels of business, in an engaging manner
- The ability to interpret technical drawings
- Knowledge of commercial, industrial & public buildings fabric, mechanical and electrical systems, energy use and optimisation including fabric, boilers, steam, heat networks, hot water systems, refrigeration, HVAC, BMS, CHP, heat pumps, and other renewable energy technology
- Good knowledge of energy and carbon management policy, legislation and market trajectory.
Desirable experience
- Experience in energy and water management, at manufacturing and retail/commercial sites, from identification of utility savings to delivery of successful reduction programmes
- Experience in delivering heat decarbonisation strategies
- Having worked in a business-to-business consultancy, where you have performed the role of ‘trusted advisor’, providing support, advice, and delivery to a very high standard.
