An established electricity transmission organisation is seeking a Substation (HV Primary Plant) Engineer to join its multi-disciplinary Project Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on major high voltage substation projects that support large scale renewable integration and contribute to the UK's Net Zero ambitions. You will play a key part in the development and delivery of new build and asset replacement projects across the transmission network, operating at voltages of up to 400kV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop outline engineering scopes, site location plans, primary plant layouts, and Single Line Diagrams for high voltage substation projects.
  • Review and assure detailed designs produced by contractors and consultants.
  • Witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure compliance with technical and quality standards.
  • Apply safety by design principles to identify, mitigate, and control engineering and construction risks.
  • Provide technical support to site and operational teams, ensuring high quality installations while maintaining network security.
  • Evaluate tenders and support the procurement, management, and coordination of specialist engineering services.
