Safety-critical systems don’t get a second chance. Neither should your career stall on projects that don’t matter. We’re looking for a Principal Safety Engineer to take the lead on complex, safety-critical systems across multiple defence platforms - shaping the standards, not just following them.
What you’ll own:
- Drive safety analysis that matters: HAZOPs, FTA, FMECA, Functional Failure Analysis - done to Def Stan 00-056 and IEC 61508
- Set the safety requirements that determine whether a system meets the customer’s targets, not just the paperwork
- Stand in front of stakeholders - internal and external - and make the case for safety decisions that stick
- Collaborate across disciplines to raise the bar on every output that carries your name
- Represent the function at design reviews, audits, and safety committees
What you bring:
- A track record delivering Systems Safety in UK Defence - degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Real fluency in IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-056, not just awareness
- Comfort with COTS PE systems and high-integrity software assurance
- Hands-on experience with hazard identification, FMECA, FTA, and Functional Failure Analysis
- Confidence building ALARP justifications that hold up under scrutiny
- Security clearance required - reach out and we’ll walk you through it.
What’s in it for you:
Flexible and hybrid working options.
