Payroll Advisor – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

Location: Warrington

Start: ASAP

Our client, a well‑established engineering services and maintenance provider based in Warrington, is seeking a detail‑driven Payroll Advisor to support their Payroll team during an exciting period of transformation. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a major payroll system implementation while also supporting BAU payroll operations.

What You\’ll Be Doing

Support Payroll System Implementation

  • Running parallel payrolls and analysing outputs
  • Identifying discrepancies and investigating root causes
  • Reviewing existing processes and helping to shape new, improved workflows
  • Supporting the creation of payroll training guides and documentation

BAU Payroll Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑end payroll processing across multiple contracts within tight deadlines
  • Applying pay rates in line with various National/Pay Agreements, including calculating back pay
  • Processing starters, leavers, and associated transactions
  • Conducting peer audits and offering constructive feedback
  • Preparing and analysing payroll reports for internal teams
  • Handling payroll queries promptly and professionally
  • Collaborating closely with other departments to maintain clear communication and meet deadlines
  • Ensuring adherence to payroll policies, processes and procedures
  • Supporting year‑end tasks including Tax Year End, Benefits in Kind, P11Ds, and annual increases
  • Maintaining accurate records and high‑quality filing standards
  • Keeping up to date with payroll and pension legislation including AE, HMRC requirements, and reporting obligations

What You\’ll Bring

  • Extensive experience in high‑volume, fast‑paced payroll environments
  • Hands‑on experience of payroll system implementation (essential)
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate Excel
  • Strong analytical approach and high attention to detail
  • Current knowledge of payroll & pensions legislation, and HMRC compliance

Desirable

  • A recognised CIPP payroll qualification
