Carbon60 is recruiting an experienced TIG Welder to join a specialist engineering and industrial manufacturing facility in Northampton.
PAY RATE: £13.81 - £17.26 per hour (Dependent on Experience)
CONTRACT TYPE: 12-week Temp to Perm
LOCATION: Northampton, UK
WORKING PATTERN: Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm (37.5 hours/week)
THE ROLE: This role is central to delivering high-quality welded assemblies used across a wide range of critical industrial applications. Working within a skilled workshop team, you will contribute to the accurate production of precision components, support the smooth workflow between departments, and uphold strict quality and safety standards. This position plays a key part in maintaining efficient operations within a rapidly evolving production environment, supported by strong training pathways and clear opportunities for long-term progression.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- TIG welding components, often thin-wall materials
- Picking and preparing components for assemblies
- Producing welded components for the next stages in the manufacturing process
- Liaising with multiple departments to maintain smooth operations
- Recording failures and quarantining parts as required
- Following fault-finding procedures
- Using in-house systems to record H&S and quality information
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Competent understanding of English for H&S compliance
- Strong TIG Welding skills (stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium - highly desirable)
- Basic IT literacy (data entry, emails)
- Basic maths competency (angles, measurements, percentages)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attitude, willingness to learn, adaptable and motivated
DESIRABLE:
- ASME IX certification
- Mechanical assembly knowledge
- Machine operation experience
- Experience in metallic hose assembly
- Manufacturing/production background
- Counterbalance/Reach FLT experience (training can be provided)
INTERVIEW PROCESS: Face-to-Face (walk-through and discussion with hiring manager) Skills Assessment: 1 hour practical TIG welding on scrap materials
PPE: Safety glasses & hi-vis can be provided; candidates must bring steel-toe boots & fire-retardant clothing
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: Extensive in-house training from experienced welders, competency sign-off across machinery, tools and processes, e-learning modules included, expected 8-month journey to full independence (may be faster for some tasks), optional FLT training.
