The goal of the Navy Digital Hosting (Deployed) [NDH(D)] service is to introduce a new modern, flexible and scalable Navy Hosting IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). NDH(D) will help to address obsolescence by re-platforming and uplifting the current landscape to a new, modern and consolidated service offering. The environment will provide a common set of services to the teams delivering data and digital solutions on behalf of the Royal Navy, enabling the teams to focus upon their solutions and the Royal Navy to benefit from economies of scale.
We are looking for a Cross Domain Solution (CDS)/Network integration engineer to support the delivery team with the build, deployment and support of NDH(D). This role will predominately be based onsite in Portsmouth along with Dockyards for ship installations, although remote working will be available as the workload dictates.
The role of the CDS/Network integration engineer is to deliver design, build, implementation and day-to-day support of the integrated CDS service. The engineer is to be self-managing to help deliver a high-quality service to support the delivery of the Royal Navy's vision.
Essential- 5+ years' experience of design and deploying CDS systems in MOD or secure enterprise infrastructure platforms.
- Strong experience and understanding working with TCP networks.
- Strong experience of integrating data flows within the application layer.
- Good communication skills within a team.
- Understanding of Dell server hardware.
- Maintain technical documentation.
- Provide day to day 3rd and 4th line support of deployed services.
- Work as part of a team to support day to day administration in a flexible and agile manner.
- Experience in administration of Microsoft Windows 2019/22, Active Directory.
- End user knowledge of Remedy.
- Good working knowledge of VMware VCF hosted services.
- Office Automation skills to support documentation updates.
- Ability to work within a team to proactively support the delivery of IT services on a Royal Navy vessel.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage key stakeholders (End users, suppliers and external services).
- CISCO CCNA or equivalent.
- ITIL Foundation.
