Systems Engineer – Oracle Linux KVM / OLVM Architecture
We’re looking for a hands‑on SME / Architect to design, build and deliver secure, large‑scale KVM environments in highly regulated, mission‑critical settings.
This is a genuine end‑to‑end role – from gathering requirements and producing architecture through to build, migration, assurance and handover into live service.
We are looking for someone with SC clearance in place for the role – NPPV3 is also required but can be obtained before starting.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of Oracle Linux KVM / OLVM platforms
- Produce high‑quality HLD & LLD documentation
• Architect and implement
- KVM hosts, clusters & virtualisation environments
- Storage domains (NFS, i SCSI, FC)
- Logical networks, VLANs & VM standards
- Deliver build, configuration, migration and platform validation
- Design for high availability, resilience & disaster recovery
• Define standards across
- Security hardening & compliance
- Performance & capacity optimisation
- Backup, monitoring & automation
- Work closely with infra, network, security & application teams
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring
Qualifications
- Deep, hands‑on expertise in Oracle Linux KVM & OLVM (o Virt)
- Strong experience designing enterprise virtualisation platforms
- Proven delivery of HLD & LLD documentation
• Solid knowledge of
- qemu‑kvm, libvirt, VDSM
- VM lifecycle, HA & live migration
- Strong Linux administration & system hardening
- Storage & networking design (SAN, VLANs, bridging, bonding)
- Automation skills (Ansible, Bash, Python, APIs)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement & problem ownership
