Carbon60 is seeking an experienced Electronic Engineering Lab Technician to join their defence client's growing team in Stevenage. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's electronic engineering operations, ensuring the smooth running and efficient use of the lab facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the general housekeeping, health and safety, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) management of the assigned lab
  • Assist lab users with project scheduling and resource planning for the lab facilities
  • Provide hands-on support to lab users, including monitoring tests and undertaking rework activities to IPC standards
  • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and assets to guarantee availability and usability
  • Train lab users on basic skills such as soldering, crimping, cable lay-ups, and the use of lab test equipment
  • Manage lab security to ensure access is limited to authorised personnel only
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including project managers, product line heads, and the Electronic Engineering UK Lab Manager

Skills and experience:

  • Prior experience in engineering lab management
  • Current IPC Certificates in J-STD-001 and IPC-7721, with IPC-A-610 being a significant benefit
  • Strong understanding of ESD management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of lab cleanliness and efficiency

This is a 6-month inside IR35 contract role, with the potential for extension. Umbrella rate Β£25 per hour (PAYE also available). Onsite for 5 days per week, with flexible start and end times. The successful candidate will need to undergo security clearance (SC) and a medical examination for this position.
