Hybrid Working: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote

The Commercial Director will be responsible for leading the commercial function, ensuring effective financial performance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement across a high-profile portfolio. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy, aligning with internal legal entities and ensuring clear goals, deliverables, and objectives.
  • Provide NEC contract expertise, offering guidance and leading senior client-facing meetings to mitigate commercial risks.
  • Oversee and challenge monthly project performance reports, including receivables, WIP, and working capital, driving consistency and best practices.
  • Identify and resolve underperformance issues, implementing intervention plans and mitigating risks related to disallowed costs.
  • Deliver a structured commercial reporting framework to enhance financial transparency and operational efficiency.
  • Take ownership of contract disputes, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Lead the management of Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Compensation Events (CEs) while maintaining accurate risk registers.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing commercial team, ensuring clear communication across business units.
  • Validate commercial terms, margin models, and cash-flow forecasts for tenders, ensuring financial viability and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with the AFP process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in contract negotiations and claims management, driving financial recovery strategies where necessary.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director to develop annual budgets and accurate financial forecasts.
  • Drive efficiency initiatives, working with clients to identify and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Conduct monthly site visits, engaging with teams to enhance commercial performance and identify innovation opportunities.
  • Support client audits and commercial governance reviews, ensuring best practices are upheld.
