About the Role

Our client are recruiting for a Principal Supply Chain Subcontract Specialist to join a leading organisation operating within a highly regulated and technology-driven environment. This role sits at the heart of bid and capture activity, partnering with Business Development, Programme, Finance and Bid teams to develop competitive, deliverable supply chain strategies that support future business growth. You will play a key role in identifying, engaging and managing suppliers, ensuring supply chain capability aligns with both current programme delivery and future opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement or supply chain professional who enjoys influencing strategy, negotiating value and working within complex stakeholder environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a network of suppliers aligned to current and future business requirements.
  • Support Business Development teams in shaping supply chain strategies for bids and new opportunities.
  • Identify, assess and engage suppliers, ensuring the right capability, innovation and value proposition is incorporated into bids.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for supplier engagement throughout the bid lifecycle.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of contracts in line with procurement policies and governance requirements.
  • Support bid planning, reporting and governance activities to ensure delivery against deadlines.
  • Promote responsible sourcing and social value initiatives across the supply chain.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience supporting bids, proposals or business-winning activities within a regulated environment.
  • Strong supplier relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven negotiation experience with the ability to deliver commercial value.
  • Good understanding of procurement principles and contract management.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within defence, engineering, aerospace or other highly regulated sectors.
  • CIPS Level 5 qualification (or working towards).
  • Commercial management accreditation (e.g. WorldCC).
  • Knowledge of international trade compliance regulations.
