The Role

The Laboratory Chemist will support laboratory operations through the testing and analysis of samples, maintenance of records and documentation, and adherence to quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures. Working as part of a wider technical team, the successful candidate will contribute to ensuring samples are processed accurately, laboratory standards are maintained, and operational compliance requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out laboratory analysis on a variety of samples in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess incoming samples against agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Assist with the maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
  • Record and maintain accurate laboratory data using computerised systems.
  • Assist with technical documentation and record management.
  • Support compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Promote safe working practices across the site.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and professional laboratory environment.
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained at all times.
  • Support site activities related to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the management team, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Desirable: Qualification in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biological Science, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, technical, manufacturing, testing, or science-based environment.
  • Experience working within a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing methodologies.
  • Full UK driving licence.
