We are seeking a Multiskilled Engineer to join our team on a short‑term basis, supporting engineering operations within a fast‑paced production environment. This role is ideal for a skilled engineer with strong mechanical and electrical competencies who thrives on minimising downtime, improving efficiency, and maintaining high compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
- Perform machinery adjustments and changeovers to maximise line efficiency.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues, taking corrective action as needed.
- Support production teams with day‑to‑day technical queries to maintain output and quality.
- Conduct compliance checks, ensuring adherence to Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental and industry standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
- Manage spare parts, stock levels, and ordering of essential components.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities across the site.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to machinery and equipment maintenance.
- Proven experience in safe isolation, problem-solving, and fault diagnosis.
- Ability to troubleshoot industrial machinery, including conveyors, motors, and packing equipment.
- Solid understanding of electrical schematics and automation/PLC systems.
- Previous experience in electrical, controls, or mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or similar environment.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN, OEE, Kanban etc.).
- Background in food manufacturing or similar regulated environments.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing demands.
