Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing, Deputy Head of Manufacturing, Technicians and Project Chemists to ensure processes are robust and safe for plant production.
  • Identify any potential issues for processes bound for plant and resolve them with the relevant people.
  • Organise and co-ordinate regular meetings for plant projects.
  • Prepare batch sheets and process/chemical risk assessments for processes ready for plant production.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head of Manufacturing to ensure all documents and raw materials are ready for the following week’s production.
  • Cooperate in technical terms in the operational introduction of new or revised procedures.
  • Cooperate in the event of technical, instrumental and procedural problems during production ("Troubleshooting").
  • Manage a team of 4 operators, taking responsibility for their training, holidays and career progression.
  • Work a 3 shift system 24 / 5 (Sunday night – Friday afternoon).
  • Have some basic maintenance knowledge to keep the plant running smoothly.
  • Ensure completion of each project to the highest professional standards, fulfilling the requirements of the customer as documented in the project proposal.
  • Undertake the essential responsibilities of the Deputy Head of Manufacturing when this person is on annual leave.
  • Actively take part and drive the company’s 5S program.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to at least degree level in a chemistry related subject.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience of working in a chemical plant environment.
  • Previous experience of writing batch records/documents for plant production.
  • Proven experience of managing and developing employees, ideally within a chemical plant operations environment.

This role requires the ability to meet physical demands associated with plant work, including standing for periods of time and safely handling, lifting and carrying plant equipment and materials.
