I’m working with a highly entrepreneurial investment group that’s quietly building one of the most compelling credit platforms in the market. Backed by evergreen capital (no fundraising cycles), the firm has a strong track record of building and scaling successful businesses across multiple sectors before turning its focus to financial services.

Their strategy is to back and scale specialist lending platforms by providing back-leveraging facilities to private credit managers. The platform currently manages a c. £200m loan book, expected to double over the next 12 months, with a clear ambition to become a credible alternative to the larger private credit houses — best described as investors posing as bankers.

The firm primarily supports lending platforms providing venture and growth capital to UK SMEs, with plans to expand into Europe over time. Individual loan sizes typically range up to £10–11m, with a strong emphasis on diversification. Alongside this, they also run a separate real estate debt strategy, backing specialist property lenders and funds.

The Role

As the platform continues to scale rapidly, the firm is bolstering its SME lending team with new Associate and Analyst-level hires to support continued growth across underwriting and portfolio management. This Credit Analyst position will support the underwriting and ongoing monitoring of SME loans and, on occasion, select property transactions. You’ll work closely with Credit Associates and senior investors, gaining direct exposure to live deals, investment committee processes and portfolio management within a fast-growing credit platform.

It’s a hands-on role, well suited to someone looking to build a strong foundation in private credit and develop into a more senior underwriting position over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the underwriting of new SME loans, assisting with financial analysis, modelling and credit papers.
  • Review financial statements, management information and deal materials from partner lending platforms.
  • Assist with portfolio monitoring, tracking performance, covenant compliance and key risk metrics.
  • Help prepare materials for investment committee and internal credit discussions.
  • Work with internal teams and external partners to ensure transactions align with credit policy and risk appetite.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting and monitoring processes as the platform scales.

What They’re Looking For

  • 1–3 years’ experience in credit analysis, lending, transaction services or a related analytical role.
  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, with a desire to deepen credit and risk expertise.
  • A curious, proactive and collaborative mindset, comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
  • An interest in private credit, SME lending and alternative investment strategies.
  • A basic understanding of loan structures and credit documentation (or a strong willingness to learn).

This Role Is Likely to Suit Someone Who Is:

  • An Analyst in Corporate or Leveraged Finance at a bank, looking to move closer to investment decision-making.
  • Working in Big 4 Transaction Services, Valuations or Restructuring, and keen to transition into private credit.
  • In a credit, risk or lending role and looking for broader exposure within an evergreen capital platform.

This is a strong opportunity to join a growing credit business early, gain hands-on deal exposure and develop alongside experienced investors in a firm with long-term capital and serious growth ambitions.

If you’d like to find out more — confidentially, of course — feel free to get in touch.
