About you
You’re comfortable on the phone, in a fast-paced environment where outbound prospecting is part of everyday work. You can quickly qualify prospects, prioritise your time, and move deals forward efficiently. You have a genuine passion for cars: you understand models, engines, generations, and the value differences between a G-series 911 and a 964, or a 230 SL Pagoda and a 280 SL. You understand the mindset of both passionate private sellers and investors. You’re commercially sharp, persuasive without being pushy, and motivated by targets. You enjoy performing, structuring a pipeline, and seeing the direct impact of your work on growth.
About the role
2025 was a huge year of growth and we're only just getting started as we look to set new records for 2026! You’ll be joining our established auctions offering, where you’ll help drive awareness, source exceptional classic vehicles, and ensure a first-class experience for buyers and sellers from start to finish. You’ll join the Auctions team with a clear mission:
- Turn interest into consignments
- Turn consignments into successful sales
You’ll build the sales pipeline, grow our classic and collectible car categories, and help continue to grow this vertical as the dominant force in the world of online auctions.
About us
Car & Classic is one of the largest automotive marketplaces in the world. Launched in 2005 but under new, VC‑backed ownership since 2018 and on an exciting double‑digit growth journey to bring classic vehicle transactions online. Our culture is incredibly important to us. We’re lucky enough to have built the team from scratch with a focus on enjoying the day‑to‑day, diversity, inclusion and high performance. We’re a fully remote team of builders, dreamers, and petrolheads using tech to connect enthusiasts with the machines that move them. If you’re driven by passion and curious about shaping the future of classic motoring online, you’ll fit right in. We’re looking for a Senior Consignment Specialist who has good, relevant experience and wants to make their mark in a rapid‑growth business where they can make a real difference whilst enjoying the environment and culture.
Role and responsibilities
- Pipeline ownership: Own and grow a high-quality pipeline through high-volume outbound activity, rapid qualification and decisive deal progression. Operate with full ownership from first contact through to listing.
- Stock sourcing: Source premium classic and specialist vehicles suitable for auction (Jaguar E‑Type, Mercedes Pagoda, Porsche 911, Land Rover Series, Aston Martin, etc.), ensuring every car meets our quality, provenance and presentation standards.
- Seller advisory: Lead sellers through valuation, reserve-setting and auction readiness with confidence, credibility and clear commercial judgement.
- Consultative selling: Deliver a premium, consultative experience — building trust quickly, setting expectations clearly and managing deals through to successful outcomes.
- Category growth: Drive category growth through proactive outreach, market mapping and relationship‑building with collectors, dealers, specialists and clubs.
- Commercial performance: Own performance against clear outcomes — listings secured, sell‑through rate and overall revenue contribution.
- Buyer–seller matching: Increase sell‑through and bidding engagement by matching the right cars with the right buyers and positioning listings effectively.
- CRM discipline: Maintain exceptional CRM standards (HubSpot): clear next steps, accurate activity tracking and zero dropped opportunities.
- Market insight: Provide actionable feedback to Commercial, Marketing and Product teams to continuously improve category performance.
The skills, attributes and experience you must have
- Outbound confidence: High-volume prospecting ability — confident, energetic on the phone and able to open, control and progress conversations.
- Sales execution: Strong discovery, objection handling and consultative, value‑based selling skills.
- Market knowledge: Deep understanding of classic cars — models, specs, provenance, pricing dynamics and buyer psychology.
- Pipeline ownership: Highly organised, accountable and relentless in progressing deals and maintaining CRM hygiene.
- Relationship building: Ability to quickly build trust, communicate clearly and balance customer needs with commercial outcomes.
- Results focus: Target-driven, competitive, resilient and motivated by performance.
- Autonomy: Thrives in a remote, high-trust environment with full ownership of output.
- Category mindset: Energised by building and representing a growing category within enthusiast communities.
- Collaboration: Works effectively with photography, valuations, marketing and commercial teams to maximise outcomes.
The skills, attributes and experience it would be nice to have
- Automotive experience: Experience selling classic or prestige vehicles.
- Relevant sales background: Experience in outbound sales or automotive consignment environments.
- Auction knowledge: Understanding of auction formats, reserve pricing and buyer behaviour.
- Industry network: Existing relationships within classic car communities, clubs or specialist dealers.
- Cross-functional experience: Experience working with commercial, marketing or product teams.
This role probably isn’t for you if
- Low activity preference: You prefer low-volume sales or minimal outbound activity.
- Low commercial drive: You’re not motivated by targets, performance or commercial outcomes.
- Slow pace: You don’t enjoy fast-paced dealmaking, persuasion or competitive environments.
- Poor organisation: You struggle with CRM discipline or pipeline management.
- Low interest: You’re not genuinely interested in classic cars or the enthusiast market.
