The Compliance Officer will ensure that the company operates in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs across all engineering projects and business operations – UK & Europe.
- Stay up-to-date with local, national, and industry-specific regulations, including Building Regulations, Health & Safety Legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations), Environmental Permitting, and contract compliance.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of projects, processes, and supplier/vendor relationships to assess compliance risks.
- Provide guidance and training to staff and management on regulatory requirements, policies, and best practices.
- Investigate potential compliance breaches, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies where applicable and maintain accurate records of compliance activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a compliance role, ideally within engineering, construction, or technical services.
- Strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks relevant to engineering contracting, including HSE legislation, environmental law, and contract law.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple compliance projects concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide guidance and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Experience in auditing, risk assessments, and reporting compliance issues.
- Proficiency with compliance management software and MS Office suite.
