About Car Planet

Car Planet is one of the UK’s fastest-growing used car supermarkets, with over 2,000 vehicles in stock and ambitious plans to become the UK’s leading independent car retailer. We are a highly data-driven business and have built much of our technology stack in-house, including our own dealer management system, call analytics platform, and performance dashboards.

We are now looking for an exceptional performance marketer to take ownership of our paid acquisition strategy and significantly increase the volume of high-quality car finance leads generated through digital channels.

The Role

This is a hands-on role for a proven paid media specialist with deep experience in lead generation and car finance. You will be responsible for generating profitable finance applications through Google Ads and other paid channels, working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), internal design team, and developers. This role is not for someone who only manages agencies or operates at a purely strategic level. We need someone who is comfortable working directly in the ad accounts every day, analysing performance, testing landing pages, and making data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage all paid acquisition channels, including:
    • Google Ads
    • Performance Max
    • YouTube
    • Meta Ads
    • Microsoft Ads
    • Affiliate marketing
  • Increase the volume of qualified finance applications at a profitable cost.
  • Build, launch, and optimise campaigns on a daily basis.
  • Analyse lead quality through to funded deal level.
  • Work with internal designers and developers to improve landing pages and conversion rates.
  • Implement robust attribution and reporting across all paid channels.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce dependency on third-party marketplaces such as Auto Trader.
  • Provide regular performance updates and recommendations to the CCO.

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on paid media experience.
  • Proven track record of generating high volumes of profitable leads.
  • Strong experience in automotive finance, consumer finance, insurance, or another highly competitive lead-generation sector.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Google Ads and Performance Max.
  • Strong understanding of GA4, Google Tag Manager, Attribution, Conversion rate optimisation, and Landing page testing.

Ideal Background

  • CarFinance 247
  • Zuto
  • MoneySuperMarket
  • Compare the Market
  • Confused.com
  • Motorway

Personal Attributes

  • Highly analytical and commercially minded.
  • Obsessed with ROI and lead quality.
  • Comfortable getting deep into campaign and conversion data.
  • Proactive and accountable.
  • Results-driven and confident challenging existing assumptions.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Qualified finance applications generated.
  • Cost per funded deal.
  • ROAS.
  • Incremental gross profit from paid channels.
  • Landing page conversion rate.
  • Reduction in dependency on Auto Trader.

Package

  • Performance bonus
  • Significant autonomy and budget responsibility.
  • Opportunity to play a key role in scaling one of the UK’s most ambitious automotive businesses.
