The Opportunity:
Car Planet, one of the UK\'s fastest-growing car retailers with over 1500+ vehicles in stock, is seeking an experienced Automotive Bodyshop Controller. This role is ideal for someone with a background in independent bodyshops or car supermarket accident repair centres, who understands the balance between efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
As a Bodyshop Controller, you will report directly to the Bodyshop Manager and work closely under their guidance, helping lead a team of panel beaters, paint technicians, and MET technicians. You will oversee a wide range of tasks including accident damage repairs, panel replacement, paint refinishing, and cosmetic restoration. We value a pragmatic approach, focusing on delivering safe, high-quality repairs that are essential for the vehicle and beneficial for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and monitor daily targets and KPIs for our bodyshop team
- Maintain the highest standards of quality control in all repair and refinishing work
- Develop and support a strong team of technicians, implementing training programs for junior members
- Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations at all times
- Oversee repair processes, liaising with estimators, insurers, and customers to resolve aftersales issues effectively
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bodyshop Controller, Supervisor, or Manager, preferably in a car supermarket or accident repair setting
- Ability to manage the daily operations of a busy bodyshop
- Ideally, a formal qualification in Vehicle Body Repair, Paint Refinishing, or equivalent
- A valid vehicle driver’s licence
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- Effective team management skills
Compensation:
- Basic salary up to £50k (based on experience) + OTE £70K
Work Schedule:
- Week 1: 5 days (Monday – Friday)
- Week 2: 6 days (Monday – Saturday)
- Working Hours: 6.00am - 2.30pm
