Capulet Care provides high-quality care for vulnerable adults who are no longer able to live independently. The service offers a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where residents are encouraged to maintain dignity, comfort, and enjoyment in their daily lives. The team supports individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, mental health conditions, sensory disorders, physical disabilities, and palliative care needs. Person-centered care, respect, and compassion are at the core of the home’s approach to supporting residents and their families.

This is a full-time role covering our 3 homes based in Wolverhampton. The Dementia Nurse Specialist will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to residents living with dementia and related conditions, including comprehensive assessments, care planning, and ongoing clinical review, support & guidance to staff and staff training.

  • Responsibilities include monitoring physical and mental health, managing complex behaviours, offering therapeutic activity guidance and support, and ensuring comfort and safety in line with best practice and regulatory standards.
  • The role involves offering guidance and education to nursing & care staff, supporting families and carers to understand dementia and care plans, and contributing to a positive, inclusive environment.
  • The Dementia Nurse Specialist will also participate in multidisciplinary meetings, client reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and training activities to maintain and enhance standards of dementia care.

Current Registered Nurse qualification (e.g., RGN, RMN, or equivalent) with active NMC registration. Specialist qualification in Dementia care is essential for this post. Specialist knowledge and experience in dementia care, including assessment, care planning, and management of complex needs. Strong clinical skills in medication management, monitoring of long-term conditions, and end-of-life care. Ability to lead, mentor, and support staff, including delivering training on dementia and best practice. Sound understanding of safeguarding, mental capacity, consent, and relevant health and social care regulations. Effective organisational and documentation skills, including accurate record-keeping and use of digital care planning systems. Demonstrated commitment to person-centered care, equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of practice. Previous experience in a care home, mental health, or older adult setting is highly desirable.
