The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of multi‑million‑pound systems contracts for major clients within the UK Nuclear Industry. These projects range from standalone control systems to full turnkey solutions integrating PLC/SCADA platforms, hardwired/logic‑based safety systems, and site installation activities. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for delivering complex engineering programmes from inception to completion—ensuring compliance, safety, quality, and commercial performance in one of the most regulated sectors in the world. If you have deep experience in nuclear project delivery and strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, this is a role where your expertise will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of nuclear E,C&I projects worth several £millions.
- Ensure delivery to agreed timescales, specifications, budgets and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee full project lifecycle: requirements, design, substantiation, implementation, testing, installation, commissioning and support.
- Provide strong commercial leadership, including subcontractor management and financial oversight.
- Work closely with hardware, software, production and installation teams based at Stone.
- Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team of up to 30 engineers and project professionals.
- Manage all Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety aspects through QHSE teams.
- Hold regular progress and reporting meetings with clients.
- Support future business growth by delivering excellence and building strong client relationships.
Essential Requirements (Nuclear & NEC Focused)
- 5–10+ years’ demonstrable E,C&I project management experience within the nuclear industry or an equivalently regulated sector.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, with proven experience delivering projects under these frameworks.
- Electrical hardware knowledge and understanding of control & instrumentation systems.
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, to budget, and to high quality standards.
- Experience managing subcontractors and complex supply chains.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent customer‑facing skills and stakeholder management capability.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
- Ability to obtain SC clearance as a minimum.
Desirable
- Recognised project management qualification (PMI, APMP, etc.).
- Recognised safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely or similar).
- Experience using CEMAR.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
