We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver upgrades and modifications to Transmission substation protection & control systems, working directly on National Grid and wider UK Transmission & Distribution projects. You will manage multiple engineering projects ranging from £50k to £2m, ensuring delivery to time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction. This hybrid role requires regular attendance at our Staffordshire office and occasional travel to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of Transmission & Distribution engineering projects
- Manage budgets, schedules, risks and commercial performance
- Oversee subcontractors and multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
- Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
- Hold progress meetings with clients and stakeholders
- Support bids, proposals and future business development
- Build strong customer relationships through excellent delivery
- Strong engineering background (electrical, power systems or similar)
- Proven project management experience in Transmission, Distribution or similar regulated engineering sectors
- NEC3/NEC4 contract experience is essential
- Skilled in planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project
- Commercially astute with strong risk management capability
- Experience managing subcontractors and engineering teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Must live within a commutable distance of Staffordshire
- Experience with project proposals and bid work
- APM Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification
- Knowledge of protection & control systems or substation automation
