🔧 The Opportunity
We’re expanding our Energy team and looking for enthusiastic, experienced EC&I Engineers to take on a hands‑on, varied role covering all aspects of electrical, control and instrumentation design and implementation.
You’ll work on PLC‑based control systems, cabling, MCCs, drives, switchgear and wider EC&I equipment — primarily within the thermal and hydro power generation sector, with opportunities to support other industries too.
This role includes site surveys, developing engineering solutions, producing designs, reviewing calculations, and collaborating directly with customers. Some travel and short stays away may be required.

🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and driving project teams
- Reviewing and approving designs
- Ensuring compliance with procedures, standards and methods
- Interpreting customer data, drawings and specifications
- Producing system designs and modifying design packs
- Creating GAs, schematics, wiring diagrams and cable drawings
- Producing client documentation, test documentation and manuals
- Leading site surveys and supporting H&S documentation
- Supporting SAT/commissioning activities
- Assisting with tender documents and cost estimates
✔️ Essential Skills
- Strong experience in control systems within the energy or utility sector
- Competence in field cabling systems (routes, sizing, earthing, protection)
- Experience in control panel design (PLC, I/O, comms, UPS etc.)
- Degree or HND in a relevant discipline with 5–6+ years’ experience
- Proficient with Word, Excel and AutoCAD
- Methodical approach to requirements and documentation
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check

- Siemens PCS7 / TIA Portal
- Schneider M580 / M340
- MCC specification and installation
- BS7671 (18th Edition)
- DSEAR / hazardous area applications
- Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511)
- Database familiarity
- Site installation and commissioning
