The Firm Capula Investment Management is a leading global quantitative hedge fund managing over $35 billion in assets. We manage absolute return, enhanced fixed income, macro and alpha strategies for a diversified group of investors worldwide. Capula invests in a broad universe of asset classes, including fixed income, equities, currencies and commodities, as well as derivatives related to these asset classes.

The Capula Finance team is comprised of six professionals and is led by the Chief Financial Officer and the Head of Finance. The Team is responsible for Finance at Capula, working at the head office in London, UK and overseeing the finance function for other overseas entities. The team is responsible for all aspects of Finance for the management company entities, including management accounts, financial statements, budgeting, monitoring and reporting KPIs, accounts payable, cost allocations, expense recharges and tax compliance. The team works closely with other internal Capula teams and with external advisers including tax, audit and professional services.

Overall purpose of the job:

  • Process all UK company invoices and expenses using the company accounting software.
  • Register, obtain authorisation, manage and ensure prompt payments via external paying agent.
  • Prepare inter-company invoices and reconciliations.
  • Process the preparation of monthly management accounts, including instructing and reviewing the work of external bookkeepers.
  • Prepare financial analysis, including analysis of performance to budget for key expense accounts.
  • Manage and process employee expenses and credit card expenditure on a monthly basis.
  • Administer the company fixed asset register, including recording additions and disposal of assets.
  • Carry out tax compliance duties, including the distribution of tax withholding statements.
  • Participate in the annual budget process, including drafting the budget for certain expense accounts.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and internal controls for the role’s responsibilities, including participating in the assessment of internal controls and suggest improvements.
  • Support in any other ad-hoc project or tasks as required.

Requirements

Education and Qualifications: University degree educated (degree in Accounting, Finance, or Maths preferable).

Experience: 1-2 years prior experience in an accounting role or similar desired. Graduates with prior work experience or an interest in accounting are also encouraged to apply. Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems beneficial.

  • Strong Excel skills, with ability to produce analysis and reports of high quality.
  • Strong technical skills that can include but not limited to (Excel, VBA and Python).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and propose practical solutions.
  • Curiosity and comfort with AI tools and emerging technologies, with an interest in applying these to improve finance processes and workflows.
