The Opportunity
We are looking for experienced PCS7/Neo Automation Engineers to join our Energy team and lead the delivery of complex control system projects across the renewable power generation and energy storage sectors. This role is ideal for engineers with deep Siemens PCS7/Neo expertise, strong technical leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high‐quality automation solutions. You will guide projects through the full lifecycle from concept and design to software development, testing, commissioning and client handover. Key Responsibilities
- Lead software design, development and implementation for PCS7/Neo‐based control systems.
- Produce high‐quality FDS, SDS, detailed design documents and test specifications.
- Develop software using IEC 61131 languages (Ladder, FBD, SFC, Structured Text).
- Drive internal and customer FATs, ensuring robust and compliant solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, reviewing engineering work produced by others.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Work closely with Project Managers to deliver projects across the full lifecycle.
- Support site commissioning, testing and client engagement when required.
Essential PCS7/Neo Expertise
- 5+ years' hands‐on experience with Siemens PCS7/Neo, including:
- Advanced Process Library (APL)
- Control Module Types (CMT)
- Sequential Function Charts (SFC)
- OS icon/faceplate development
- Strong experience producing PCS7/Neo design documentation and test specifications.
- Proven ability to lead PCS7/Neo software development and integration activities.
- Experience performing FATs and reviewing PCS7/Neo engineering deliverables.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle and QA processes.
Additional Required Experience
- 5+ years' experience with at least one additional PLC platform:
- Siemens TIA Portal (S7)
- Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix (Studio 5000)
- Schneider M580/M340 (EcoStruxure Control Expert)
- 5+ years' experience with at least one SCADA platform (Zenon, WinCC, FactoryTalk View SE, Panorama, ArchestrA, etc.).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable High‐Level Skills
- Advanced PCS7 capabilities: Industry Library, F‐Systems/Safety Matrix, SCL, Bulk Engineering, S7‐410 with ET200SP HA, Plant Device Manager.
- Experience with renewable power generation control systems.
- Closed‐loop control design and loop tuning.
- Safety systems to IEC 61508/61511 (certification beneficial).
- Simulation tools (SIMIT, PICS, WinMOD).
- Industrial communication protocols (Profibus/Profinet, Modbus, IEC 104, IEC 61850, DNP3).
- Cyber‐secure system delivery (IEC 62443).
- Virtualisation (VMWare/HyperV) and Windows Server configuration.
- Network switch/firewall configuration.
