The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Site Wireperson to join our Energy Team. In this hands‑on role, you’ll be responsible for the on‑site wiring of protection and control systems for transmission, distribution, and power generation projects across the UK. You’ll work on critical national infrastructure, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and ready for commissioning by our engineering teams. This role involves regular travel, so flexibility and a willingness to work away from home are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assemble and wire electrical protection and control systems using drawings, wiring schedules, and specifications
- Install and terminate paired/multicore cables, copper and fibre‑optic communications cables
- Carry out mechanical assembly of cubicles, frameworks, cable trays, and desks
- Support hardware teams with building and testing temporary test rigs
- Work closely with Site Managers/Supervisors to ensure materials and deliverables are ready
- Complete electrical safety checks including:
- LVD checks
- Earth bond continuity
- Point‑to‑point wiring
- Insulation resistance
- HV withstand tests
- Power‑up and functionality checks
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of site‑based wiring experience
- Experience with E, C & I installation (substation control systems, protection systems, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and assembly drawings
- National Grid Person
