An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading consultancy delivering some of the most complex and technically demanding projects across the UK and Europe. This role will focus primarily on the successful delivery of major data centre developments for private sector technology clients, while also offering exposure to projects within life sciences, higher education, healthcare, scientific research facilities and commercial property.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead the delivery of high-value project and programme management commissions throughout the entire project lifecycle, from inception and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover. You will also play a key role in developing client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

The Role

You will be responsible for driving the successful delivery of major capital projects, ensuring alignment between clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers while maintaining control of programme, budget, risk and quality.

  • Project Leadership
    • Lead the delivery of large-scale data centre projects from concept through to completion.
    • Develop and manage project execution plans covering programme, cost, procurement, risk, and quality.
    • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and provide strategic direction throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
    • Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring transparency and effective communication throughout delivery.
    • Understand client objectives and provide strategic advice to achieve successful project outcomes.
    • Coordinate consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Commercial & Procurement Management
    • Lead procurement strategies and tendering processes.
    • Manage contracts with clients, consultants, partners and suppliers.
    • Oversee change control procedures and ensure robust commercial governance.
    • Identify efficiencies and value‑adding opportunities that enhance project outcomes.
  • Design & Technical Management
    • Manage design development from project inception through construction.
    • Oversee design coordination and ensure technical solutions meet operational requirements.
    • Support commissioning, testing and handover activities to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Provide leadership on complex technical and delivery challenges.
  • Business Development & Leadership
    • Contribute to business development activities and client engagement initiatives.
    • Support the preparation of proposals, bids and presentations.
    • Mentor and develop project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Contribute towards achieving business performance and growth objectives.

About You

You will be an accomplished project professional with significant experience delivering complex capital projects, ideally within the data centre sector.

  • Essential Requirements
    • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
    • Chartered or professionally accredited (e.g. MAPM, ChPP, MRICS or equivalent).
    • Demonstrable experience delivering complex, high‑risk projects and programmes.
    • Proven track record delivering major data centre projects.
    • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
    • Strong commercial awareness, including procurement, contract administration and change management.
    • Experience managing projects through both design and construction phases.
  • You Will Also Have
    • Significant involvement in a major capital project valued at £100m+, or experience acting as Lead Project Manager on projects valued at £15m+.
    • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
    • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills.
    • The ability to understand client organisations, their culture and priorities, while bringing fresh thinking and expertise to project teams.
    • Experience contributing to business development and achieving team performance targets.
